 Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Preview

Lenovo ThinkPad X Series Preview

May 29,2007 by Mike

Lenovo have launched the latest line up of X-series laptops and tablet PCs which are powered by Intel's new Santa Rosa platform.

The X61, X61s and X61 Tablet all come with WAN cellular connectivity, 802.11n draft support, Gigabit Ethernet, and Bluetooth connectivity.

ThinkPad X Series is ideal for on-the-go users who need an ultrathin, ultralight notebook but refuse to sacrifice quality, durability or performance. Ultraportable X Series notebooks can be equipped with the Windows Vista operating system, the latest Intel Core2 Duo processors and Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) technology.

And the newest models, the ThinkPad X61 and ThinkPad X61s, offer new battery control features to help you work unplugged longer, as well as advances in security and the new Intel Centrino Pro processor technology.

All these models also feature a battery life of at least 10 hours with the extended battery, boasting the ability to turn off unused features on the notebook dynamically to reduce overall power drain.

The Integrated Fingerprint Reader and new 32-byte hard drive password protection on ThinkPad X61 models help guard against external threats. There is even an option to disable all input and output ports on the BIOS level, as a final layer of protection for your information.

The Active Protection System utilizes an integrated, airbag-like user-configurable motion sensor to continuously monitor your ThinkPad notebook and temporarily stop the hard drive to help prevent some hard drive crashes when a fall or similar event is detected. In addition, the ThinkPad Hard Drive Shock Absorber uses rubber rails and metal plates to provide impact protection.

Select X Series models offer impressive performance features, including:

Intel Centrino Pro processor
Windows Vista Ultimate
Intel Core2 Duo processor
Intel GM965 or 945GM Express Chipset
Intel integrated graphics

In addition, Intel Turbo Memory on select ThinkPad X61 models helps speed boot time, loads applications faster, and saves power. It also supports read and write caching for the ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive features of the Microsoft Vista operating system.
