FrankMusik @ Oxford o2 Academy
We were excited when we booked our tickets to see FrankMusik live in December. Loved his music since the first time I found “In Step” online around 2 years ago now – absolutely amazing song that had me hooked from the first play and as you probably know, it takes a special kind of song to have someone love it from first play.
Ended up playing it to death and it is my most played on my iTouch with well over 300 plays (he competes with the likes of Michael Jackson, Take That, and tonnes of 80’s classics – yet FrankMusik is the only album I love to listen to (for the last year!).
So when I saw he was playing Oxford there was no chance I would be staying in that night. His support bands were awesome – Gigantor was amazing! Deep bass beats that got even the stiffest in the audience nodding.
Killa Kela was up next – astounding beat boxer from West Sussex had everyone up dancing then standing in awe as he made noises using his mouth that only something electrical should be able to make... outstanding!! Also an amazing singer too!!
Then came on FrankMusik – aka Vince Frank – looking ultra cool in his The Hundred’s t-shirt and crazy hair. Started with Time Will Tell which sounded soooo good and onto When You’re Around – one of my favourites and a hit with the crowd.
Fantastic vocals and incredible accompaniment on his keyboard you see that this guy loves what he does and he does it with such passion and knowledge that it’s an inspiration to listen to.
He played a number of tracks from his incredible Complete Me album (a favourite on my iTouch) In Step, Better Of As Two, Confusion Girl and 3 Little Words ooh and Gotta Boyfriend? He also sang Rihanna’s – Please Don’t Stop The Music and his version of Amy Winehouse’s Rehab which is fantastic.
He then sits down in front of his keyboard to entertain us with a rendition of the Pet Shop Boys hit Its A Sin – absolutely gorgeous!! I love to listen to him belting out a song on his keyboard/piano and so made me happy to hear he released Completely Me, an acoustic remix of Complete Me, you can really hear his mind-blowing abilities and you get to really appreciate that this guy writes his own lyrics and music which he then produces himself.
A real talent amongst so many manufactured bands – he actually deserves the lime light he so rightly should be in.
