If you can't see out of office in Outlook that means that you use standard outlook version. You will have out of office feature only if you are a domain member and you have an exchange account configured in your outlook

What if you do all this and it still doen't work? Using MS products usually goes like this:

Foolishly attempt to do something that looks so simple, such as set up an Out Of Office Reply. Do it, test, but of course, it flat out doesn't work.

Spend 1-3 hours troubleshooting it. Google it, MSKB it, find and try 3-6 things, known issues, check Exchange settings, be sure Exchange is set to allow Out Of Office replies. etc.

Still no luck.

Give up. Buy a Mac and some properly functioning software that works like you expect it to.

you might have a problem with your exchange database. I've seen this many times before - rules and settings get corrupted -not remembering settings etc. Use eseutil to repair your database and see what happens then

my network guys tell us that if they enable the internet email to get the out of office messages we would get stuck in "infinite loops" with other peoples out of office messages. this confuses me because everything i find on the web seems to indicate that outlook makes sure this doesn't happen. Can anyone confirm? Please help me help my tech guys!!!

Joey that is not true and your network guys should be fired. Your outlook has nothing to do with it, it's your exchange server that deals with non deliverable messages and makes sure that they don't end up looping infinetily. Out of office is a must for most companies so i have no idea why your guys don't want to enable it.

Hi

The Exchange 2003 server is so smart that it will send the Out of Office message only one times per email address. So, it is a good idea to test the feature by sending mail from different account.
