Western Digital recently introduced its new My Passport Studio portable hard drives featuring the super-fast FireWire 800 interface, password protection with 256-bit hardware encryption, usb 2.0 interface and a customizable e-label that's always visible, even when the drive is unplugged.

My Passport Studio hard drives feature a sleek and stylish design and are formatted for Mac computers.

They are compatible with Apple TimeMachine software, and feature automatic and continuous backup with WD SmartWare software, and 256-bit hardware-based encryption.

You can change the display on the front of the My Passport drives as often as you want by using the included WD SmartWare software. The screen show available capacity, your custom labels and whether the drive is locked or unlocked.

The interesting thing is that your e-label remains visible even when your drive is unplugged because the display uses "e-paper" technology.

The new My Passport Studio drives are offered in capacities of 320 GB, 500 GB and 640 GB and have a 3-year limited warranty.

640GB Notebook Hard Drives From Toshiba

Toshiba recently announced a new series of 2.5-inch 640GB hard drives. I must admit that I would love to have this sort of capacity in my notebook because walking around with external USB drives is no fun.

Toshiba's new hard dives offer up to 620GB of capacity and are the industry’s largest for a 2.5HDD.

Toshiba's new 2.5-inch HDD line-up is an attractive solution for high performance notebook PCs and all-in-one desktops.

One of the cool features is a free-fall sensor which helps protect the drive should the host system be dropped.

The new hard drives will be available from October 09.

Toshiba Launches SDXC and SDHC Memory Cards

Toshiba recently announced the launch of the world's first 64GB SDXC Memory Card.

The new 64GB SDXC Memory Card features the world's fastest data transfer rate and is compliant with the new SD Memory Standard Ver. 3.00, UHS 1043.

Toshiba also unveiled 32GB and 16GB SDHC Memory Cards compliant with the world's fastest data transfer rate.

SDXC and SDHC Memory Cards feature a maximum write speed of 35MB per second, and a read speed of 60MB per second.

Fujitsu today announced the development of the MHZ2 BH series of 2.5" hard disk drives with a maximum capacity of 320 GB(1).

The MHZ2 BH series feature a storage capacity for 2.5" HDDs that is among the highest in the industry, the MHZ2 BH series delivers transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second. The series is designed primarily for use in compact desktop PCs, notebook PCs, and consumer electronics products, such as HDD recorders.

With the addition of this series to its line of HDDs, Fujitsu offers HDDs that optimally meet a range of customer needs.
