Nokia to replace 46 million batteries

Nokia is offering to replace 46 million batteries for its mobile phones after reports of overheating while charging.

The problems are confined to BL-5C batteries made by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006.

Nokia said there had been 100 reports of overheating, and that the problem battery had been used inside more than 50 different phones.

Nokia said in a statement: "Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the affected batteries could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge."

Customers can check on the Nokia website if the battery in their mobile phone is affected.

"Concerned consumers may want to monitor a mobile device while charging that contains a BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory," the company said.

Apple iPhone to Deliver Up to Eight Hours of Talk Time

Apple claims that iPhone will deliver significantly longer battery life when it ships on June 29 than was originally estimated when iPhone was unveiled in January.

iPhone will feature up to 8 hours of talk time, 6 hours of Internet use, 7 hours of video playback or 24 hours of audio playback.

In addition, iPhone will feature up to 250 hours (over 10 days) of standby time. Apple also claims that the entire top surface of iPhone, including its large 3.5-inch display, has been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to achieve a superior level of scratch resistance and optical clarity.

Motorola has launched the long awaited next-generation RAZR phone, RAZR2.

Motorola RAZR2 will become available in July 2007 in several markets, the next-generation device packs cutting-edge features such as CrystalTalk technology, up to 2GB of on-board memory, Web browsing, real-time point-to-point video and ultra-fast menu navigation, all packed into a slimmer, stronger, sleeker design.

Motorola made the RAZR2 profile even sharper, shaving two millimeters from the original RAZR. Greatly enhanced dual screens give you the largest-in-its class 2.0" external screen for crisp picture caller ID and readable texts and a 2.2" internal screen with twice the resolution of the original RAZR. To further beautify this sought-after icon, Motorola incorporated a seamless casing, a soft touch back and a stunning vacuum metal front finish.
