iPhone 4The Image of iPhone 4 above shows you some of the basic functions and buttons you can find on iPhone 4.

At the back of iPhone 4 you will also find a 5mp camera which allows you to capture amazing images even in low light thanks to its advanced backside illumination sensor. When you are taking pictures it works as a flash. When you are shooting video flash can stay on to light up the scene.

iPhone 4 further explained

  1. Ringer on/off mute switch allows you to put your phone to silent.
  2. Volume up and down keys are self-explanatory. The good thing about volume controls is that certain applications will remember your volume settings for that particular app without affecting your ringer volume every time.
  3. Antenna is stored just behind that line and as you are probably aware there has been much controversy surrounding signal problems on iPhone 4.
Apple is denying that there is a problem but unfortunately I am one of those experiencing loss of signal if i put my fingers over that line. There are certain things you can do to avoid problems like that such as rubber protectors etc but I am not going to talk about that in this article
  4. Headphone Jack allows you to connect your headphones or your docking station or even external speakers.
  5. There are 2 microphones in iPhone4 and this one works together with the main one to suppress unwanted and distracting background sounds.
  6. Power/sleep button is used to switch your iPhone 4 on/off or to put it too sleep. Power button can also be used in conjunction with the Home button (13) to capture what is on your screen and store it as an image (screenshot).
  7. Front facing camera is great for video calls and even for taking pictures of yourself and friends. It can easily be switched to back facing camera by pressing the switch button. Picture capture on iPhone happens a lot faster than on an iPhone 3G or 3GS and that is down to the new powerful processor that is powering iPhone 4.
  8. Main speaker (not loud speaker)
  9. Network Signal, network name and 3g/WiFi icons are displayed here
  10. Bluetooth and Portrait lock icons if enabled are displayed here
  11. Battery status can be somewhat inaccurate at times
  12. Bottom dock bar is always visible and you can put your favourite apps in there and replace apples default apps.
  13. Home button always takes you to the main screen (page 1). If pressed twice iPhone 4 will display a multitasking bar which allows you to run multiple application at the same time. Also if you press the home button together with power on/off button you will take a screenshot of what's currently on your screen and the mage will be stored in Camera Roll.
  14. Speakers and Microphone. The 2 speakers at the bottom are used when you play music and talk hands free.
  15. Dock port is used to charge and synchronise your iPhone 4 with iTunes and can also be used to connect it to your docking/charging station
  16. SIM card is located here and as you can see there is a very small hole there where you can use SIM removal tool (supplied with iPhone 4) to replace your SIM card. Small paperclip can also be used if you have misplaced the SIM removal tool. iPhone 4 uses micro SIM cards so if you have a standard SIM at the moment and want to use it with iPhone 4 you will need to contact your network operator and ask for a replacement SIM.

Apple iPhone 4 A4 Processor is designed to be very powerful yet very power efficient. Thanks to this new processor iPhone 4 easily performs complex jobs and allows multitasking, video editing and making FaceTime calls, all that happens with minimum battery power loss.

Multitasking on iPhone 4 drains the battery. I need to charge it every day and I don't use it that much apart from always on Skype and a few calls I make/receive. iPhone 4 battery should be better optimised IMHO.
