Sony’s Net-sharing CAM (NSC-GC1) Preview

Sony doesn't want to be behind on the latest gadgets, so they’ve released the NSC-GC1 Net-sharing CAM, designed for social networkers and video bloggers who frequently upload video and images to the web.

Sony’s Net-sharing CAM seamlessly uploads short video clips to the web, and snaps print-quality, 5-megapixel digital still photos.

The camera weighs just about five ounces and it has ultra-portable dimensions.

The NSC-GC1 Net-sharing CAM can record about five hours of web-ready video footage on a Memory Stick PRO Duo media card, when recording with the default settings on a 2GB media card.

The NSC-GC1 Net-sharing CAM shoots video in the “web-ready” MPEG-4 recording format, with selectable picture qualities ranging from QVGA/15 frames per second to VGA/30 frames per second, which can be viewed on televisions. It features a distinctive “sharemark” button so users can easily “tag” or select video and photos they want to upload.

The Net-sharing CAM is pre-loaded with PMB Portable software. The PMB application automatically runs when the camera is connected to a compatible PC via the supplied USB cable, and will recognize “tagged” videos and photos. Because the unit pre-formats videos for popular web-sharing sites, it is easy to access them and post videos, without having to down-convert or manipulate the footage beforehand.

The PMB Portable pre-loaded software has pre-programmed menu buttons for direct publishing to web sharing sites, such as Crackle. The built-in software can also be programmed for web sites of your choice or even your own personal blog.

Picture Motion Browser software is also supplied for those who would prefer an extended version of the application to run directly from a personal computer. Additionally, this version makes it possible to quickly edit and store footage, based on preferences. Bundled driver software is also included so the device can double as a live web cam.

Designed to be sleek and intuitive, the Net-sharing CAM sports separate buttons for movies and photos, eliminating the need to select specific modes before shooting. It has a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom and a 2.4-inch color LCD screen. Powered with rechargeable Lithium Ion technology, the NSC-GC1 Net-sharing CAM has a battery life of about 90 minutes.

Times read: 1368

The system is specially tuned to deliver a natural sound field that takes the focus off the subwoofer while supplementing mid range and lower frequencies.

The DAV-IS10 micro home theater system also features Sony’s new BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology, which utilizes the HDMI interface to communicate with select Sony BRAVIA televisions. With the touch of a button, users can automatically turn on and switch inputs, synchronizing connected devices making operation easier.

The system’s compact DVD/CD player can upscale DVDs to 720p or 1080i output when connected via HDMI to a compatible high-definition television. The DVD/CD unit features touch sensitive controls that illuminate and disappear on touch for navigating DVDs and CDs without using the included universal remote control.

The DAV-IS10 micro home theater system is also equipped with Sony’s Digital Media Port input. This makes the system compatible with various optional accessories, including a PC WiFi client for streaming digital music, a Bluetooth receiver that allows users to connect various Bluetooth-enabled devices to the system, and audio docking stations compatible with select Network Walkman and iPod products.

Additional features include Sony’s Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC), which simplifies multi-channel surround sound setup with the use of an included microphone for a balanced home theater experience.

The DAV-IS10 system will cost you around $800 when launched.

Times read: 4683
